Technical Principles
Spiral Interlocking Structure
Spiral steel silos are manufactured using specialized equipment that continuously rolls steel sheets to form spiral reinforcing ribs 30–40 mm wide. These ribs are approximately five times thicker than the base material, significantly enhancing the overall load-bearing capacity.
No welding → Eliminates structural weaknesses
Self-locking structure → Improves stability
Continuous forming → More uniform strength
Compared to traditional welded silos: Structural strength is increased by over 30%
Key Advantages
Strong Structure, High Safety
The thickness at the spiral seams is approximately five times that of the original steel plate, forming vertical and circumferential stiffeners that provide excellent resistance to seismic, wind, and snow loads. The spiral steel silo features no welds or bolt holes, ensuring excellent structural integrity and resistance to deformation and leakage.
Excellent Airtightness
With continuous mechanical interlocking seams and an air leakage rate of ≤0.1%, these silos meet the requirements for grain fumigation and storage with inert gases, ensuring effective pest control and sterilization.
Rapid Construction
On-site mechanical rolling allows a single silo (≤5,000 tons) to be completed in just 7–15 days-5–8 times faster than concrete silos.
Lightweight (approximately 1/6 the weight of a concrete silo of the same capacity), resulting in lower foundation costs. 15%–20% cheaper than welded silos of the same capacity.
Compact footprint and high space utilization
Flexible adjustment of silo diameter and height; minimum silo spacing of just 500 mm allows for compact layout, saving land.
Applications
Grain Industry
Spiral steel silos can be used in grain warehouses, flour mills, rice mills, breweries, and other facilities to store wheat, corn, rice, soybeans, and other grains.
Building Materials or Cement Industry
Cement plants, grinding stations, and mixing stations use these silos to store powdered materials such as cement, fly ash, slag powder, and limestone powder.
Large steel silos effectively prevent moisture and caking, with a residual discharge rate of <0.2%.
Feed and Oil Industry
Feed mills and oil mills use them to store raw materials and finished products such as corn, soybean meal, bran, and rapeseed, providing a sealed environment that prevents insect infestation and oxidation.
Chemical and Environmental Protection Industry
Chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, and starch mills use them to store corn starch, chemical powders, additives, and other materials, meeting food-grade hygiene standards and preventing contamination.
